IGF2BP1—An Oncofetal RNA-Binding Protein Fuels Tumor Virus Propagation

نویسندگان

چکیده

The oncofetal RNA-binding protein IGF2BP1 has been reported to be a driver of tumor progression in multitude cancer entities. Its main function is the stabilization target transcripts by shielding these from miRNA-mediated degradation. However, there growing evidence that several virus species recruit promote their propagation. In particular, tumor-promoting viruses, such as hepatitis B/C and human papillomaviruses, benefit IGF2BP1. Moreover, recent suggests non-oncogenic SARS-CoV-2, also take advantage only inhibited date HIV-1. This review summarizes current knowledge about interactions between different species. It further recapitulates findings presenting analyses publicly available high-throughput datasets.

Simian virus 40 large tumor antigen: a "RNA binding protein"?

Simian virus 40 large tumor antigen was isolated by immunoaffinity chromatography from monkey or mouse cell cultures undergoing lytic or transforming infection. RNase-treated gel-purified large tumor antigen, on hydrolysis with alkali, gave about equimolar amounts of AMP, GMP, CMP, and UMP. Furthermore, RNA fragments of approximately 45 nucleotides could be isolated from large tumor antigen pur...

Ebola virus VP30 is an RNA binding protein.

The Ebola virus (EBOV) genome encodes for several proteins that are necessary and sufficient for replication and transcription of the viral RNAs in vitro; NP, VP30, VP35, and L. VP30 acts in trans with an RNA secondary structure upstream of the first transcriptional start site to modulate transcription. Using a bioinformatics approach, we identified a region within the N terminus of VP30 with s...

The binding of T4 gene 32 protein to MS2 virus RNA and transfer RNA.

Fluorescence titrations, absorption spectroscopy and stopped-flow techniques were used to study the interaction of T4 coded 32-protein (P 32) with MS2 RNA and total tRNA from E. coli under different ionic conditions. It is shown that the amount of MS2 RNA and tRNA secondary structure melted by P 32 varies markedly and reversibly within a range of ionic conditions under which the binding constan...

An RNA-binding peptide from bovine immunodeficiency virus Tat protein recognizes an unusual RNA structure.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) Tat protein binds specifically to an RNA hairpin, TAR, located at the 5' end of its mRNA. Tat uses a single arginine residue within a short region of basic amino acids to recognize a bulge region in TAR. Here we show that a 17 amino acid arginine-rich peptide from the bovine immunodeficiency virus (BIV) Tat protein also binds to an RNA hairpin at the 5' en...
